The 24th AIDS 2022 Conference
The International AIDS Conference is the largest conference on any global health issue in the world and provides a unique forum for the intersection of science, advocacy, and human rights.
The conference will be attended physically and virtually by approximately 18 000 scientists, researchers, activists, policy makers, officials, civil society organisations, people living with HIV and others committed to the global AIDS response. The programme of the conference includes plenary sessions, abstracts, workshops, conference sessions, satellite symposia and exhibitions.
The theme for the conference is: Re-Engage and Follow the Science and will focus on
defining future research agendas
shift latest evidence to action, and
chart a new consensus on overcoming the HIV epidemic as a threat to public health and individual well-being.
Numerous South Africans will be attending the conference, in order to adequately represent South Africa during the conference, the Inter-Ministerial Committee on AIDS meeting held on the 11th of March 2022 recommended that all the activities for the conference be centrally coordinated by the SANAC Secretariat, including the participation of the South African delegation (government, civil society and the private sector) and the erection of ONE TEAM SOUTH AFRICA exhibition stand.

Under the theme of SOUTH AFRICAN HIV, STIs AND TB PROGRESS BEYOND COVID-19: RISING AGAINST ALL ODDS, the South African National AIDS Council (SANAC) which brings together government, civil society and the private sector as a collective in its quest to turn the tide against the HIV, STI and TB epidemics and ensure that no one is left behind. SANAC is coordinating all stakeholders in South Africa who will be attending and participating at the 24th International AIDS Conference in Montreal, Canada taking place between 29 July – 2 August 2022 to make meaningful impact on behalf of the country.
