Invitation to Manguzi Gijima Race
PRETORIA, 06 October 2026 – SANAC in partnership with the Gijima Foundation and KwaZulu Natal Provincial Government will host the Annual Manguzi Gijima Race at Shayina Multipurpose Centre, in Manguzi on Saturday, 10 October 2026.
Founded by a group of health workers from Manguzi Hospital, the Manguzi Gijima Race is a community-driven health, wellness and lifestyle initiative that promotes inclusion and celebrates the abilities of people with disabilities. Underpinned by the national Cheka Impilo Campaign, the initiative is also aimed at promoting inclusivity and improved access to quality health and social services for people with disabilities.
The event will be attended by the Premier of KwaZulu Natal Hon. Thami Ntuli and the Deputy Minister of Social Development Hon. Ganief Hendricks, alongside senior government officials and stakeholders from national, provincial, district and municipal levels.
Manguzi Gijima promises a fun-filled day for the whole family, featuring a range of sporting and recreational activities, including competitions specifically designed to accommodate and celebrate people with disabilities.
The event provides an important platform to promote healthy lifestyles, social inclusion and community participation, while highlighting the importance of ensuring that people with disabilities are able to access health and social services without barriers.
