De Beers and AfroCentric Group Partner with Health Department and SABCOHA to extend Health and Wellness Services to Vulnerable Communities

Pretoria, 04 September 2023 – De Beers, a leading diamond mining company, and AfroCentric Group, a healthcare solutions provider, have collaborated with the South African Business Coalition on Health and AIDS (SABCOHA), South African National AIDS Council (SANAC), the National Department of Health and the SANAC Private Sector Forum (SANAC PSF) to extend crucial health and wellness services to vulnerable communities surrounding the Venetia Mine. The partnership aims to provide access to vital healthcare services and wellness screenings to employees, contractors, and community members in Limpopo’s Vhembe and Capricorn districts.

Event Details:
Date: 8 September 2023
Time: 09h00 – 14h00
Location: Musina Show Grounds, Musina, Limpopo

KEY HIGHLIGHTS:

Community Wellness Initiative: De Beers and AfroCentric have committed to fully funding wellness screenings for 25,000 individuals in labour sending areas near the Venetia Mine, Vhembe, and Capricorn districts. This initiative aligns with the government’s Cheka Impilo campaign (coordinated by SANAC), focusing on testing and treating HIV, TB, STIs, hypertension, and diabetes.

Distinguished government officials including the Minister of Health Joe Phaahla, Limpopo Premier Stanley Mathabatha, Health MEC Dr. Phophi Ramathuba and others will be in attendance.

Private Sector Collaboration: The partnership underscores the power of public-private partnerships in addressing health challenges. The collaboration contributes to the National Strategic Plan on HIV, TB, and STIs, working towards the 95-95-95 goal.

Micro Enterprises Empowerment: The campaign includes the BizAIDS Programme, which trains micro-enterprises to support the campaign’s execution. This initiative aligns with De Beers’ commitment to Building Forever (BF) Pillar and health and wellbeing objectives and AfroCentric Group Enterprise Development dedication to improving community life and access to economic opportunity.
