SANAC CAREER OPPORTUNITY

The South African National AIDS Council (SANAC) leads South Africa’s response to the national HIV and AIDS, TB & STIs epidemics. SANAC is building a dynamic team that can facilitate its effective leadership of the national response. SANAC’s purpose is to foster dialogue and consensus between government, civil society and all other stakeholders in its strategies and programmes to turn the tide against HIV, STIs and TB in South Africa.

Name of Position: Technical Assistant (Office of the Chairperson of SANAC Civil Society)

Reporting to: GCSS Manager and Chairperson of Civil Society Forum

Location: SANAC Civil Society Forum Chairperson Office, Pretoria

Duration : 1 Year contract

Purpose of the job

To provide technical support to the Chairperson of the Civil Society Forum and CSF sector leaders in enhancing national capacity for advocacy, coordination, research and documentation of achievements.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct literature, guidelines and manual research and reviews
• Proactively share key provincial and national HIV, STI and TB developments and insights with the Chair and Civil Society
• Analyse strategies and policies in order to ensure maximum influence
• Prepare political analysis and identify ways for SANAC CSF to engage in advocacy in its broadest sense
• Assist the Office of the Deputy Chair and the CSF in a variety of operational and administrative tasks
• Assist in the preparation, implementation and documentation of events, workshops and meetings arranged by the office of the Chair or the SANAC Secretariat
• The successful incumbent may also assist other areas of the SANAC Secretariat office as need arises.

Qualification, Skills and Experience

• Undergraduate degree in health, social science or law, with preferably a postgraduate degree in public health or a related social science, health and social systems knowledge is an added benefit
• Able to work as part of a team and independently in a structured, methodical manner
• Understanding of multi-stakeholder initiatives and some experience working with civil society
• Excellent writing and communication skills
• Fluency in English
• Administrative, organizational and project management skills
• Very good computer skills (Microsoft office, e-learning tools, internet research
• Good interpersonal skills including good coordination and effective working relations with stakeholders
