Today, 26 July 2018, AIDS2018 Conference hosted a special session in the main plenary hall titled “Moderated Conversation on the Challenges and Opportunities to Champion Gender Justice and Health Equity” in honour of the late global HIV and gender activist Prudence Mabele.
Speakers included Dr Nono Simelela from the World Health Organization and former US Ambassador to South Africa, Mr Patrick Gaspard who is the Director of the Open Society Foundation.
The inaugural Prudence Mabele Award was launched during the session and the first recipient is Duduzile Dlamini who is a sex work activist
