The South African National AIDS Council (SANAC) is supporting the implementation of the Orphaned and Vulnerable Youth (OVCY III), a programme of the Department of Social Development that is supported through the the Bilateral Cooperation between the governments of Germany and South Africa.
JOB SUMMARY: We are seeking for dedicated and dynamic Project Coordinators to support and oversee the implementation of the OVCY III programme at Community Care Centres (CCCs) in the North West, Limpopo and KwaZulu Natal provinces. The incumbents will act as the provincial focal persons to oversee, coordinate and monitor the daily implementation of the programme in the CCCs. The project coordinators must ensure efficient coordination of all programme activities.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS AND RESPONSIBILITIES (But not limited to):
- Coordinate, manage, and support the CCCs in the trainings of youth and programme activities.
- Ensure that all the necessary preparations and logistics are made to facilitate the smooth running of the activities. • Working with the NPOs in the CCCs to conduct outreach activities, inform and mobilise different community stakeholders of the skills programme. • Develop workplans and manage daily tasks. • Work with the Skills Service provider building networks, linkages, and partnerships with local stakeholders that provide support services and skills programmes to young people including, government departments, private businesses, TVETS, and training colleges.
- Support, link and refer trained young people to other youth employment and support services.
- Convene together with the NPOs in the CCCs OVCY III monthly progress review meetings. • Monitor the training activities and provide feedback. • Collect and manage programme data and produce monthly and quarterly reports. •Ensure flow of information on key programme activities to DSD district, province and SANAC. •Provide general support that adds value in all activities and project at large. • Perform other duties and support roles within SANAC as required.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES
- In-depth Understanding of youth skills development and youth development in general.
- Ability to communicate and interact with different stakeholders including officials from government agencies, NGOs, community leaders etc.
- Strategic thinking, planning and management.
- Good problem-solving skills, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and self-motivated.
- Possess a valid South African driver’s license.
- Computer Literate – proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
- Have a Drivers License
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, degree in business administration, qualification on skills training and development, social sciences, or a related discipline.
- 5 years of prior work experience in the field of skills development and job creation programmes for young people.
- 5 years’ experience in programme support, planning and coordinating activities.
- Proven experience in networking and partnerships building.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills – at all levels.
- Good planning, coordinating and writing skills.
- Analytical, problem solving and attention to detail.
